The Political Theory of Max Horkheimer and Jürgen Habermas

The series of lectures introduces the students to the social and political thought of two of the leading figures of the Frankfurt School, Max Horkheimer and Jürgen Habermas. It intends to clarify the issues concerning the political responsibility of the individual towards society, the leading role of the sciences towards the formation of a rational society and the political potentialities of social institutions, parties and political organizations towards the formation of a rational social and political whole. The lectures focus on the examination and clarification of core notions such as dialectics, interdisciplinarity, communicative action, public sphere which occupy the fundamental argumentation in both thinkers works.
