Radu earned his PhD from the University of Twente in 2021, where he researched the bureaucratic implementation of the EU's asylum policy at the national level. Previously, he earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science and International Relations from Florida State University in 2011, and in 2013 he obtained a master's degree in International Affairs from the same institution. In 2015 he completed the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in International Migration and Social Cohesion at the University of Amsterdam, Deusto University, and University of Osnabrück.
Radu's research interests lie at the intersection asylum law and policies in the European Union and street-level bureaucracy.
